Sela Pass

It is a high-altitude mountain pass offering tourists some mesmerizing views of the surrounding areas. It is located on the West Kameng District and Tawang border at an elevation of 4170 m (13,700 ft). Most tourists visiting this destination are followers of Buddhism as the pass connects the Indian Buddhist town of Tawang to Dirang. Since it stays covered with snow almost throughout the year, there is scarce vegetation.

Sela Lake is situated very close to the pass and is one of the 101 lakes in that area. It is treated as a sacred lake by the Tibetan Buddhists. You will find it open almost throughout the year as the Pass does not experience heavy snowfall in winter. It can shut down temporarily due to landslides. It is advisable to get in touch with our tour agents before starting your tour as they keep themselves updated with weather predictions.

Sharpen Your Photography Skills As Sela Pass

Sela Pass will give you numerous opportunities to explore the photographer in you. Though the Army people have imposed some restrictions because the place is very close to the China border, you can still capture some splendid images of snow-clad mountains. You will also notice numerous army trucks touring the place.

Why Is Seal Pass So Famous?

The major attraction is the Himalayas which become completely white after a snowfall. The canopy of pine trees with snow and ice will give you some of the best memories of the Arunachal trip which you can cherish for the rest of your life. There are army camps and rocky landscapes at the bottom of the mountains. The authorities ensure that the roads are well-maintained to ensure they are suitable for travellers.
