How to Visit the Popular Tourist Attractions in Ladakh?

Located on rugged hilly terrain with scanty vegetation, Leh-Ladakh is the perfect destination for adventure seekers. From stretches of valleys to swift-flowing rivers, the place has a lot to offer the visitors.

A Land Full of Surprises:

When you search for Ladakh online, the pictures may give you an idea that it is a secluded spot. However, in reality, the place is filled with different tourist attractions. Each spot is filled with surprise and exciting activities.

Details to Visit the Best Tourist Spots in Ladakh:

Several spots are included in a typical Ladakh tour package. Read on to learn more about visiting these places.

Before beginning, you should know more details about the transit point. The package generally starts from Leh, the largest urban settlement in Ladakh. You have to disembark at Leh Airport if you are coming from Delhi. It would be best to stay at a hotel for a day before beginning your actual journey.

1. Nubra Valley: This is one of the first places to visit in Ladakh. Nubra Valley is known as the adventurer’s paradise, with a number of camping outlets. Depending on the weather conditions, it may take you 5 to 6 hours to reach here from Leh. You will particularly enjoy the drive on windy mountain roads to Khardung La. Different accommodations are available here, but you can choose to stay in a tent to satiate your adventurer soul.

2. Pangong Lake: After staying overnight at Nubra Valley, you can drive towards Pangong Lake. Don’t miss the famous Diskit Monastery on your way. Travelling through rough mountain roads, you can visit Pangong Lake in roughly 6 hours. The Lake offers a picturesque view, for which a number of films were shot here. If you visit it in winter, you will find it completely frozen. During summer, you can experience its rich turquoise blue colour. Make sure to reach the spot by sundown.

3. Magnetic Hill: After covering the remote part of this region, you can return back to Leh. The next spot to visit is Magnetic Hill. You can embark on the journey after staying for a day at Leh. It is a gravity hill, which makes it one of the unique tourist spots in India. You will spend approximately two hours reaching this spot. An hour’s drive from here will take you to Alchi Monastery.

4. Alchi Monastery: It is an important Centre of Buddhism in this region. The Monastery is noted for having ancient Buddhist paintings and scriptures. The road to the Monastery remains snow-covered during winter. So it is best to visit the place between April to September.
